‘Rajneeti’, an upcoming 2010 bollywood film is a political thriller. Directed by Prakash Jha, known for his political and socio-political films like Damul (1984), Mrityudand (1997), Gangaajal (2003) and National Film Award winning documentaries like, Face After Storm (1984) and Sonal (2002), the film stars  acclaimed actors like Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, pretty gal of b-town Katrina Kaif & heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in principal roles.

The shooting of the film began in early 2009 that was due for a release somewhere around May 2009, but as the multiplex tension prevailed for a longer duration the relase of the film has got little delayed.

Shot in Bhopal, the multi-starrer film rajneeti is based on the contemporary Indian political scenario, where it is rumored that Kaif’s character in the film is inspired by the life of real life politician and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi & Ranbir will be seen as Rajiv Gandhi.

The film portrays a touching love story where Katrina plays Indu, who loses her father and then her husband, forcing her to take up the family mantle of politics. While Ranbir plays S. Pratap who studies in the US and hates politics though he is from a political family – is sucked into politics before losing his life.

The film will hit theatres around May 2010 (India)

  1. Hey, does the film really have an influence by the epic story from the Indian mythology the Mahabharata??

I’ll be eagerly waiting for it then.. :)

  2. Katrina Kaif as Sonia Gandhi is tolerable, but Ranbir Kapoor as Rajiv Gandhi is too hard to digest. Ranbir with his boyish looks doesn’t match up anywhere near Rajiv Gandhi. Nevertheless, his acting skills should cover it up.
