Well begun is half done for MNIK..
Amid a lot of criticism from past few days posed by Shiv Sena, a political party based in Mumbai, to disrupt the release of MY NAME IS KHAN, an optimistic thing happened when tickets were sold out at Berlin today.
Online tickets for the Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer film were immediately sold out in a record of almost five seconds for 1,000 euros on e-Bay. The fans had not slept all night to be in line in spite of the sub-zero temperature in Berlin.
Now, this is what we say as real fans who literally arrived at 6 a.m. and were almost in tears on. This was the scene on the scheduled release of MNIK today, where it was found that when the actor Khan’s own people inquired at the Berlinale authorities just five minutes after ticketing opened, they were way already too late.
Jenny Watkinson, the International Relations office of Dieter Kosslick, Berlin film festival director, said:”I’ve never seen anything like it. This year it’s expected to be even bigger than in 2008 (during ‘Om Shanti Om’). The online tickets for ‘My Name is Khan’ were sold out in five seconds.”
The film screening of MNIK will take place in Berlin today at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, where it will be premiered in presence of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and director Karan Johar among police protection. The Berlin Film Festival opened yesterday, that will last till Feb 21.
