American Ultra movie

Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart team up again, but this generational-context effort isn’t quite Adventureland. In American Ultra, worlds collide when underachieving stoner, Mike (Eisenberg) miraculously kills a couple of people who were apparently trying to kill him. Phoebe (Stewart), has a hard time believing any of it, but Mike’s car exploding isn’t even close to the craziest thing to happen, so she comes around before long.

It turns out that Mike is some manner of super spy, and, one must assume, as part of his assignment/cover he doesn’t even know his own identity. He’s going to have to figure things out soon though, because the guy pulling the strings, Adrian (Topher Grace), wants him eliminated as a dangerous asset.

You don’t get a lot of comedy-action, but this is probably the crew to pull it off, and if the trailer can be believed, this could be the best comedy of the year. Let’s hope it doesn’t follow too closely to Nima Nourizadeh‘s first directing effort, Project X.
