The Bond films have a lot of markers, both as a franchise and as an overall style of film, and one of the biggest is the opening sequence. While director Sam Mendes seems interesting in modifying the franchise in a lot of ways, moving away from gadgets, for example, he’s apparently a fan of the opening sequence, and if you’re going to do it, you may as well make it big.
Spectre has released another VLOG in the series that has taken us behing-the-scenes, and this time around we get an inside look at the detail, and general “Bigness” we can expect from the next opening sequence.
This may actually turn into an interesting note in the progression of the franchise, because while the opening sequence has always been around, and has always been a focal point for the films, the last dozen years or so hasn’t seen them manage quite as much status as the first twenty years of Bond.
Whatever your thoughts on the value of the opening, this look at the Day of the Dead feature looks like there is something grand in the works, but it does make you wonder how much of this is going to get destroyed.
In SPECTRE, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE. Sam Mendes returns to direct SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 for the fourth time.
