Addicted to Fresno

Certain indie films really make you wonder when you see the synopsis (or trailer), but as often as not they manage to turn the most cornball-sounding theories into gold.

Frequent television director, Jamie Babbit, teams up Married star, Judy Greer, and Orange is the New Black star, Natasha Lyonne for an adventure you never knew you wanted to see.

Addicted to Fresno follows Greer as Shannon, fresh out of sex rehab, and her sister, Martha (Lyonne). Martha gets Shannon a job, but it isn’t long before Shannon, naturally, accidentally kills a guest at the hotel where the sisters now work. This somehow leads to the sisters turning to robbery, and a robbery that goes horribly wrong.

The trailer itself is hard to believe, and where that might go in a full film is anyone’s guess. It looks like it could be just crazy enough to be brilliant, and the cast ought to be able to make good on anything you want to throw at them.

Check it out, don’t let this gem pass you by.

Addicted to Fresno is a comedy about co-dependent sisters who work as hotel maids in Fresno, CA. Shannon is fresh out of sex rehab when her younger, overly optimistic lesbian sister Martha lands her a job as a maid at Fresno Suites, the local hotel. When Shannon jeopardizes her fresh start by accidentally killing a hotel guest after a post-rehab relapse, Martha goes to great lengths to help her sister cover up the crime. Shannon finally learns to take responsibility for her actions, and the sisters begin to resolve their tortured relationship.
