See the Full Movie Page FilmReview Podcast Ep. 158 – Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Review

Marc and Shane take a look at Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and let you know if it’s worth your ticket money.

This is a film that sells itself as a strange continuation to a story, which may make it even more difficult to get people who aren’t fans of the book series into theaters, but does this one win out anyway?

Despite shifting locals completely, a new batch of people to be suspicious of, and a project that is increasingly insane in commitment by our bad guys, the trailers did make this look pretty fun. Remember, we didn’t have high hopes going into The Hunger Games either.

The News! We didn’t get to a lot of news this week, but we did manage to talk more about King Kong, and the further adventures of movie studio’s, and the continuing saga that is the effort to make Gambit. We also covered Mary Poppins, London Fields, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Review (24:30)

We had a rough time with this one, and our ratings probably suggest a worse movie experience than we feel we actually had… which might be odd. In the end, we both really like the first 40 minutes or so, but as the movie went on it started sliding downhill. It’s still fairly fun, but we just couldn’t get over how much it seemed to fall apart.

Marc gave it 4.5/10, and Shane ended up settling on 4/10.
