Well, we did always know they’d be coming back. We might have thought it would be a bit sooner, but if we can work the delay into the story, so much the better.

Independence Day is finally heading back to theaters with Independence Day: Resurgence, and the trailer hopes to build a little tension, and then just blow everything away in a cacophony of visual action noise that looks like a space-fighting video game in sandbox mode.

The aliens are coming, and the preparations we’ve made just aren’t going to be enough. Not even close. It’s absolutely impossible for the human race to survive, and that’s the way we like it.
