Will The Real Han Solo Please Stand Up?

There must be a tremendous bounty on his head. According to The Hollywood Reporter, more than 2,500 actors have weighed in on his identity. Still the next man to play the galaxy’s most notorious smuggler remains a mystery.

Disney and Lucasfilm are conducting one of the biggest manhunts in Hollywood history looking for the actor who will portray a young Han Solo. The yet-to-be titled Han Solo movie, being written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, represents a rare opportunity to recast one of the most iconic figures in modern film history. Every talent agency in town has been sending actors who are between 18 and 32 to read for the part. Casting director Jeanne McCarthy certainly has her hands full reviewing both in-person and taped auditions.

I’d like to offer my suggestions to Ms. McCarthy on five candidates who are best fitted to fill Harrison Ford’s shoes (and vest):

Dave Franco – The little brother to actor/director James Franco, Dave may be familiar to viewers as the bad guy in 21 Jump Street (2012). He’s also played magician/con-man Jack Wilder in Now You See Me (2013). He’s 30 years old and fits nicely into age range desired for a young Solo. Apparently, he’s on the shortlist and has had (or will have) a tryout for the role. Biggest knock might be that he’s a little short at 5″7 compared to Harrison Ford’s 6″1. But hey, being height challenged never stopped Tom Cruise.
