A perfect ending to an exciting 2009 for India, 3 Idiots is a perfect model of the new age Indian who is a non-conformist and questions the outdated methods and chooses to live his life on his own terms of finding new roads that evade out the rat race. As assured all the desi cinema flatters accompanied with the ‘apna Bollywood’ style makes the movie a worth watch with friends for the weekend.

Begins with the three entering the city’s well-known engineering college accompanied with the mandatory ragging sessions, wherein Rancchoddas (Aamir Khan), becomes the leader of the gang. Rancho or Baba Ranchhoddas, as his other friends call him, leads his friends through the muddle of India’s high-pressure, competitive, illogical and almost cruel education system by tutoring them on several life mantras. The grim-faced principal, Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani) believes that there is only one place at the top and to reach the place one must ‘kill the competition’.

The high point of the movie is that the director has tried to say a lot more without loosing the film’s lightness and sense of humor. But, after the first half, the story takes a twist and almost disrupts itself. Pia (Kareena Kapoor) running out of her marriage ceremony, Pia’s sister delivering a baby on the college ping pong table with Rancho getting the instructions on a web cam along with his idea of using a suction pump attached to a vacuum cleaner to pull out the baby become somewhat absurd, but the movie  jumps back to its flow.

No doubt Aamir Khan is astonishing in his role as Rancho, but the other two, Sharman Joshi (Raju Rastogi) and R. Madhavan (Farhan Qureshi) remain somewhere in the shadows, though both of them have worked hard to whittle their independent characters. Kareena shines up in her small role as Pia. Boman Irani is faultless in his role as Viru Sahathrabuddhe or Virus and the novice Omi has slipped himself perfectly in his role. Shantanu Moitra’s music and Swanand Kirkire’s lyrics blend up perfectly with the flow of the movie.

On the whole, 3 Idiots is a complete a laugh riot and does not let its audience get bored in between the movie.
