buffy_the_vampire_slayer_ver2Buffy’s back for the feature.

Buffy could be back, and she will be on the big screen.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator Joss Whedon is not at the helm, instead its Roy Lee and Doug Davison from Vertigo Entertainment, they are working with Fran Rubel Kuzui and husband, Kaz Kuzui, it is being talked of as a relaunch or remake but it is not a sequel.

So Whedon is out of the game for this one even though he is closely associated with Buffy, Kuzui and Kuzui Enterprises are holding the rights and they have been from day one, ever since she discovered Buffy from the then un-heard of Whedon. She worked on the script while Kaz, worked on the finance to make the 1992 movie.

Kuzui brought back Whedon to do the TV series in 1997 and later did the spinoff “Angel”.

The new feature Buffy, is told of having no connection to the TV series that includes no characters like Angel, Willow, Spike or Xander, instead Vertigo and Kuzui are doing a complete revamp, similar to the recent Star Trek predicament.

A storyline feature of Buffy is that each generation has their own vampire slayer to protect it, this is going to be ramped up to make a thriller with potential to hold its own at the box office.

“It was Roy’s interest in taking Buffy into a new place that grabbed us,”Kuzui said, referring to Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee.

“It was based on our respect for what he does, and his particular sensitivity to Asian filmmakers, that we wanted to work with him…Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this.” – Fran Rubel Kuzui
