a-nightmare-on-elm-streetOnce again after a gap of 25 years, Freddy Krueger has donned his avatar of stalking & scaring us in our dreams on Elm Street. A contempo of the conventional 1984 horror classic ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street‘, the new script has stayed true to its original plot where a horribly disfigured Freddy Krueger haunts a group of teenagers in their dreams in which they can gain control of their lives only during the day. As the nightmare befalls, its Freddy’s ‘day’ as he controls the series of events.

The character of Freddy Krueger with his trademark quirks like four bladed glove, fedora and striped sweater is being played by Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley (‘Little Children’, ‘Watchmen’). Actors to the likes of Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Rooney Mara, Thomas Dekker and Kellan Lutx are are playing the teenage characters experiencing the scary nightmares that Freddy has designed for them.

Supporting cast includes veterans like Clancy Brown and Connie Britton.

The original script of the 1984 classic was written by Wes Craven which became the undisputed king of horror films grossing millions in box office collections and setting off a series of seven sequels.

The screenplay of the 2010 incarnation is written by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer with Samuel Bayer directing it. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form whose Platinum Dunes production company is well know to venture into producing horror films will be doing the same for ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.

Warner Bros. is planning to release the film in April 2010.
