Fruit And Nut
The first thing that comes to your mind when you say ‘Fruit and Nut’ is Cadbury chocolate; sweet, tantalizing and delicious. However, the film by the same name makes the taste go sour, so much so that you feel like asking your money back from the theatre manager for screening such an absurd movie.
Directed by Kunal Vijaykar a well-known character actor and comedian it was surprise that he came up with such a senseless story and characterization. When top-notch actors like Boman Irani, Cyrus Brocha, Mahesh Manjrekar are your friends then half the battle is won. But Kunal has not been able to utilize even 1% of their talent
Cyrus Broacha makes us ‘bakra’ by assuming different roles in different situations every 10 minutes, none of which make an impact. Neither does he look like a office clerk neither a radio jockey. Situations change at the flick of an eye where you not even given the chance to grasp the previous scene.
While Cyrus’s characters are becoming hard to digest (forget about laughing) you have Boman Irani as the kindapper and Dia Mirza as Cyrus’s love interest going over the top with their acting skills. It was expected of Dia but not certainly from Boman who otherwise is such a fine actor. He is as irritating as he was at his best in ‘Khosla ka Ghosla’.
The only saving grace in this movie is Mahesh Manjrekar with his ‘Hinglish’ dialogues tries to at least make you smile.
If eccentricity equals intelligence then this is a really, really good movie countable at the Oscars.

I didn’t know the film was that bad..My bro has just gone to book the tickets..gotta stop him
Sorry to say, but didn’t know a film by this name even existed. (lol). and going by the post release promotions, i don’t think it’s going to last even in single screen theatres.
