Dutch director Paul Verhoeven is on the roll once again after his recent release World War II based “The Black Book” received rave reviews and studded his shelf with many awards. Now he is ready to tame the insane mama with the thriller “The Surrogate” to be developed and directed by him for 20th Century Fox.
The story revolves around a couple who are not able to conceive a child and therefore hire a surrogate mother. Things don’t out to be hunky dory and plans start to fail as the surrogate mother with a weird supernatural past, goes berserk.
The movie based on the 2004 book written by Kathryn Mackel, has been penned by scriptwriters Roderick Taylor and Bruce Taylor whose last release has been Jodie Foster thriller “The Brave One”.
After scanning Paul Verhoeven’s works till now, directing a film with such a dark subject is ideally suited to his abilities. Besides “The Surrogate”, Paul Verhoeven is also busy developing various other projects, like the “The Winter Queen” starring Milla Jovovich.
