Bollywood’s first underwater adventure thriller, Blue is encouraged by the famous Hollywood movies, ‘Jaws’ and ‘The Deep’. The movie has been set in the Bahamas and Bangkok and is all about three friends hunting for a lost treasure undersea. Completed under the placard of Shri Ashtavinayak Cinevision, Blue boosts up a budget of more than 100 Crores thereby, being hyped as Bollywood’s first most expensive movie.
A mixture of Bollywood and Hollywood, Blue swanks off the best technicians across the world. The adventurous expedition sets off by Aarav Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) and his friend Sagar (Sanjay Dutt). These two along with Sagar’s brother Sam (Zayed Khan) and the former’s girlfriend Mona (Lara Dutta) make the audiences enter into a sensational and beautiful world under the water. The characters struggle with the sharks at the start and then stabbing off their own conscience are taken over by betrayal and greed and menace up to wipe out their own existence. Along with treasure hunting, the film moves around complex relationship shared amongst the characters of the movie whilst their hunt for the treasure.
Directed by Anthony D’Souza, Blue brings thrills, excitement and danger along with it. Casted by Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan and Akshay Kumar who were perfect with their roles along with Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif who did not have any job except to look sensuous in the whole film. Yes, Katrina did give a surprise through her new look in the film. Sunil Shetty also was quite good in his small role.
Though the movies action is not breathtaking, the underwater scenes are truly beautiful. Blue lacks a strong story, despite of its strong budget and a sensational star cast. The music given by A.R. Rehman goes quite well with the pace of the movie. The special number performed by International pop-sensation, Kylie Minogue along with the star cast of the movie is something that you should watch out for!
Blue – one of the most expensive films to be made till date in Bollywood is all about exploring the dangerous waves of the oceans; you either sink forever in the depths of eternity or are carried onshore by the tidal waves of your luck.
A place that is abundant is flora and fauna; Bahamas has also attracted towards itself three men from different walks of life, each with shady motive. The rippling water that guard’s nature’s bounty also has kept a dark secret for ages. A treasure that no one has been able to discover and those who have tried haven’t returned alive.
Rumors aboard Sagar (Sanjay Dutt); an excellent scuba diver, Aarav (Akshay Kumar) his arrogant and rich friend and Sam (Zayed Khan), Sagar’s brother all are mesmerized by the depths of the ocean to unravel the treasure that is safely watched over by deadly sharks.
For Sagar the treasure is a mean to save his girlfriend Mona (Lara Dutta) and brother, for Aarav its greed and the adrenalin rush to attempt the impossible while for Sam it a matter of life & death.
How the clear, transparent waters of the Pacific turn murky due to emotions and intentions involved forms the plot of this thriller.
The film is intended to release on October 16, 2009
Democratic right of ‘Freedom to Speech’ assumes its demonic form while writing reviews for such films..he.he..
Kambakkht Ishq is a crass film right from the start. It degrades females as bimbettes constantly referring Simrita [Kareena Kapoor] with the B-word, as if it’s a compliment.
Supposed to be promoted as a family entertainer, it would be a shocking example if any couple has taken their parents or kids to watch this movie.
Viraj [Akshay Kumar] as a high profile, male chauvinist stuntman in Hollywood is acceptable but Simrita as a surgeon cum supermodel is completely unbelievable. Of the doctors that I know they are such obsessive people that their glasses foam up after they finish their daily dose of studying. When did Kareena have the time of pouting and then studying at her college in short frills? Actually Kareena’s character is of female chauvinist ‘Poo’ revived again.
The curry masala dossier of Bollywood is added to the story to spruce it up for some emotional tears and laughing jerks, but you get none rather than a smirk. Viraj and Simrita meeting up at their friend Lucky’s [Aftab Shivdasani] and Kamini’s [Amrita Arora] marriage goes well down with our brains which we anyways have left back at our house.
Fast forward to the OT where ‘surgeon’ Simrita has left behind her watch in ‘stuntman’ Akshay’s belly. She wants it out, but Viraj is stout, so she seduces him, jabs him with an injection, cuts him, and removes the watch that sings ‘Mangalam- Mangalam’. Akshay suggest and Kareena rejects. He then jogs back to Denisse Richards who wants to make ‘golden babies’ with him (aah..spaniel?) and Simrita now accepts completing the vicious circle.
Akshay Kumar constantly promotes himself as a family man, then he zips himself down on the ramp, gets himself in jail in real life and promotes himself in degradable movies. What double standards..wow!..Kareena Kapoor..she is supposed to read scripts ‘twice’ thoroughly before she signs a film..was this script her lullaby before sleeping?
Kareena Kapoor’s best friend (Amrita Arora) needs a life! Aftab Shivdasani is a director’s actor. If the director says, jump off the train, he will. So when the direction is so bad, no guesses what Aftab is like.
Looks like Sylvester Stallone and Dennise Richards haven’t yet realised what has hit them. Otherwise they wouldn’t have done such as crap movie. Minuscule one minute roles..that’s all what they have got.
Even if you want to get up and leave the film in disgust, say ‘what the heck! I have my samosa left, let’s finish it off with the coke and leave’
Today’s age where human life expectancy has come down to average 70-80 years, many are now seeing turning towards the ancient age old remedies, especially the ‘Ayurveda‘. Famous celebrities including the highest paid entertainers also are not away from it.
Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, an academy award-nominated American actor, director, producer and screenwriter has now turned to Ayurveda to get rid of his persisting knee pain.
Recently, in an attempt to make east meets west Bollywood film titled ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, Sylvester Stallone, along with other actors like Denise Richards, Brandon Routh and Holly Valance appeared in cameos, playing themselves.
While having a chat about his enduring knee problem with the famous bollywood star and co-star of the movie Akshay Kumar , the ‘Rambo’ star cuddled the ancient Indian medicine on Akshay’s suggestion, as the bollywood star provided him the name of his favorite Ayurvedic practitioner as well, during the shooting of their venture & newly released film ‘Kambakkhat Ishq’.
The magic of thousand year’s old ayurveda seems to have attracted Stallone, where now the Hollywood actor intends to spread the word about Ayurveda to his Hollywood buddies.
